An absolutely jam-packed line up for Day Two as play got underway with last year’s finalist and second seed, Alex de Minaur taking on Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti. A dominant early lead for de Minaur who thrashed through the first set 6-1. Musetti would need to have a serious word with himself ahead of the second set to try and pull back. That he did, with some lightning fast forehand action proving tough for de Minaur to handle and bringing the match level with a 6-4 win in the second set Musetti. De Minaur, looking slightly shell-shocked and struggling to keep up, couldn’t weather the Musetti storm, conceding the final set 2-6 and bowing out of this year’s tournament earlier than expected.
After suspended play yesterday evening, Alejandro Tabilo wasted no time this afternoon in seeing off Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the last 20 minutes or so of their tie.

Now, time for the big one. 2023 Champion and top seed Carlos Alcaraz made his first appearance on Queen’s Club grass for the year, meeting Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo over the net for their first round match. A rapid conclusion to the first set saw Alcaraz stamp his authority on the match, taking it 6-1. Could Cerundolo respond? That he did, forcing Alcaraz into some uncharacteristic errors to take a lead in the second set. No matter for the World Number one though, who showed his expertise and strength to inch back game by game and book his place in the next round with a 7-5 win in the second set.

Up next, King of Queen’s, five-time champ, Andy Murray stepped up to take on qualifier Alexei Popyrin. Asserting dominance early, Murray took a comfortable lead with a 6-3 win in the first. The Australian wasn’t going to give up that easily though and dug deep to level the tie, with a 6-3 win in the second. Home crowd suitably warmed up and in full force, giving Murray the strength he needed to pull back and see off Popyrin with a 6-3 win in the third and final set.

Fresh from bagging his first ATP title in Stuttgart, British No. 1 Jack Draper was last up on Centre Court today against another Argentinian, Mariano Navone. Draper continued his winning form to take the first set 6-3 and unfortunately for Navone, he just didn’t have the return against Draper’s mammoth serve. Another comfortable second set, Draper winning 6-2 to take the match. He will face Carlos Alcaraz in the next round…
